5 Key actions for raising mentally strong children #shorts

5 Key actions for raising mentally strong children: ⿡ Allow your kids to problem-solve for themselves: Make sure they know, “I have faith in you that you’ll come up with the best solution for you.” When we make all of our children’s decisions for them, they become reliant on us instead of their own internal compass and inner confidence. Of course we are here to help and be a soundboard. ⿢ Validate their full range of feelings: Let your kids know; “It’s okay to feel how you feel.” Mentally strong kids feel happy, sad, scared, angry and plethora of other feelings. They also learn that feelings come and go and that it’s okay to feel– so that they don’t become derailed by them when unpleasant feelings come along. ⿣ Let your kids make mistakes. Tell your kids; “Mistakes are learning opportunities- they are not the end of the road but simply a stop along the way on the path to success.” When we swoop in at a moment’s notice whenever our children are about to mess up, they learn that mistakes are bad and they should step aside and let you take over if there is any risk of failure. ⿤ Help them to create balance in their lives Ask your kids, “What would you like to do for fun this weekend?” “What helps you relax?” “Who makes you laugh?” We live in a culture that is often all about achieving– being the best, even if it means getting no rest. But this doesn’t make us strong– in fact, it can zap our children of their energy and divorce them from what makes them feel fulfilled, loved, energized and calm. ⿥ They take positive risks Say to your kids; “I love watching you try new things- you are brave and fully capable of mastering these skills, in time!” Kids are often scared to try new things because their comfort zones are, well, comfortable. But mentally strong kids stretch their comfort zones so that they can grow. If you choose to do these things, you are actively taking steps to raise a more mentally resilient and strong child. You’re also equipping them with the things they need to become effective adults and be good human beings. When you ask your child, When did you feel left out or lonely today? #shorts

Loneliness is a tough feeling—but it gets lighter when it’s shared. 💔✨ When you ask your child, “When did you feel left out or lonely today?” you’re doing something incredibly powerful: you’re giving them permission to talk about the moments that hurt. Kids often keep feelings of exclusion tucked away—sometimes because they’re embarrassed, sometimes because they don’t want to worry us, and sometimes because they’re not sure their feelings matter. This simple, compassionate question tells your child: Your feelings are real. Your heart matters. And I’m here for all of it. Talking openly about loneliness helps kids understand that it’s a normal human emotion—not a sign that something is “wrong” with them. It strengthens their emotional vocabulary, builds resilience, and opens the door for conversations about friendships, boundaries, empathy, and belonging. And when kids know they can come to you with the heavy stuff, they’re more likely to reach out—not just today, but for years to come. 💞 Ask this gently today… their answer might reveal something they’ve been carrying alone. #SocialEmotionalLearning #ConnectionMatters #EmpathyForKids #ParentingWisdom #PowerfulParenting #BigFeelings #RaisingResilientKids #DrRobyn

Your Kids Need to Know this! 4 Ways to help kids see through the digital lies #shorts

Your Kids need to know this! When I saw this powerful post by Emily Clarkson, I knew I had to respond. Kids today are comparing themselves to digital illusions — edited bodies, filtered faces, and standards that aren’t even real. And it’s hurting their confidence, their self-image, and their sense of worth. Here are four ways I help kids see through the digital lies 👇 ✨ 1. Expose the edit. I show them how photos are retouched, filtered, reshaped — and how these fake images distort what we think is “normal.” ✨ 2. Reframe the focus. I ask: What can your body DO that you’re proud of? Run, jump, kick, hug, create, move — bodies are for living, not performing. ✨ 3. Make it real. I share how certain posts make me feel, too. When adults are honest, kids listen — and realize they’re not alone. ✨ 4. Edit the feed. I help kids follow creators who are authentic, diverse, and empowering… and unfollow those who sell insecurity for profit. In a world of filters, let’s raise kids who see themselves clearly — and love themselves without the edits. For more scripts and tools, grab your copy of How to Talk to Kids About Anything and turn to Chapter 3 on body image and self-image. 💛 #HowToTalkToKidsAboutAnything #DrRobynSilverman #EmilyClarkson #BodyImage #DigitalIllusion #KidsAndSocialMedia #ParentingTips

Ways to Teach Kids Cooperation #shorts

Tired of whining, power struggles, and having to repeat yourself over and over? Cooperation doesn’t come from commands — it comes from connection. 💛 Here are 4 simple ways to help kids naturally step up and work as a team: 1️⃣ Invite them to be helpful. Carry groceries, hand you towels, stir the batter — small jobs build pride and connection. 2️⃣ Make meals a team effort. Let them set the table (yes, even if it’s messy!). It teaches that working together gets things done. 3️⃣ Ask for their advice. “Two boxes of markers, four kids… what should we do?” This builds ownership, problem-solving, and yes — cooperation. 4️⃣ Offer choices during cleanup. “Bags, books, or bears — which job do you want?” Choices lead to action. Commands lead to resistance. ✨ When kids feel included, they cooperate. It’s not about control — it’s about connection. Want more tools to get kids talking (and cooperating!)? Grab your box of Kidversation Cards at kidversationcards.com and start talking today. #DrRobynSilverman #HowToTalkToKids #ParentingTips #CooperationNotCombat #ConnectionOverControl #KidversationCards

How to Talk To Kids About a Parents Illness #shorts

How do you tell your children that you’re seriously ill? It’s one of the most heartbreaking conversations a parent can face — and yet, kids deserve honesty, reassurance, and connection when life takes a frightening turn. In this week’s episode of How to Talk to Kids About Anything, I sit down with Paula Schneider — CEO, advocate, mother, and breast cancer survivor — to talk about how she shared her diagnosis with her children, what helped them cope, and how families can navigate the uncertainty that illness brings. Paula shares powerful truths: ✨ Kids absorb difficult information at their own pace. ✨ Younger and older children process illness very differently. ✨ Reassurance, presence, and honesty matter more than perfect words. ✨ And above all, life does go on — even in the hardest seasons. Her story is one of courage, clarity, and deep love for her family. 🎧 Listen to the full episode here: 👉 https://drrobynsilverman.com/how-to-talk-to-kids-about-a-parents-illness-with-paula-schneider/ If you or someone you love is walking through illness while parenting, this conversation will help you feel seen, supported, and less alone. 💙 #HowToTalkToKids #DrRobynSilverman #ParentingThroughIllness #PaulaSchneider #ParentingSupport #HardConversations #FamilyStrength

Should You Apologize to Your Kids? #shorts

💛 Parents make mistakes too. We forget things. We snap when we’re tired. We let emotions run hotter than we meant to. Becoming a parent doesn’t make us perfect — it just makes us human. What matters most is what we do after the mistake. Do we deny it? Or do we apologize and model accountability? When we say “I’m sorry” to our kids, we teach them: ✨ Mistakes are normal. ✨ Everyone messes up — even grown-ups. ✨ Apologizing is responsible, brave, and necessary. ✨ Repair matters more than perfection. Our kids don’t learn from what we say as much as from what we do. Show them what accountability looks like in real life. 👉 Follow for more insight on how to talk to kids about anything — even the tough moments. #HowToTalkToKids #DrRobynSilverman #ParentingTips #Accountability #ModelTheBehavior #PowerfulParenting #RaisingGoodHumans

The Right Way to Set Boundaries with Your Kids #shorts

Ever feel like you’re repeating yourself 1,000 times a day? 🙋♀️ When kids don’t follow through, it’s not about being mean or rigid—it’s about teaching accountability with calm consistency. ✅ Ask respectfully. ✅ Set a clear boundary. ✅ Follow through—without yelling or rescuing. When you calmly hold the line, your child learns: 💡 My words matter. 💡 My actions have meaning. 💡 Mom (or Dad) means what they say. Love and limits can—and should—coexist. 💛 📕 For more scripts and strategies, grab your copy of How to Talk to Kids About Anything. #HowToTalkToKids #DrRobynSilverman #ParentingTips #CalmParenting #BoundariesWithLove #RaisingResponsibleKids

Do you love The Holderness Family? 💛 Hear them as you’ve never heard them before. In this heartfelt moment, Penn Holderness opens up about what he’d say to his younger self — the kid who felt “different,” misunderstood, and too much. He reminds us that ADHD isn’t something to succeed in spite of — it’s part of what makes a person creative, empathetic, and extraordinary. As Penn says, “My story isn’t a success story in spite of my ADHD — it’s what I was able to be because of my ADHD.” 🎧 Catch the full episode: How to Talk to Kids about the Strengths in Kids with ADHD with Dr. Robyn Silverman. 🔗 Check this link to show notes: https://drrobynsilverman.com/how-to-talk-to-kids-about-the-strengths-in-kids-with-adhd-with-penn-and-kim-holderness/ #TheHoldernessFamily #ADHDisAwesome #HowToTalkToKids #ADHDAwareness #PennHolderness #KimHolderness #DrRobynSilverman #ParentingPodcast #PositiveParenting #Neurodiversity

10 Phrases Every Teen Needs to Hear #shorts

Our teens are growing up in a world that moves fast and feels loud. Between social media pressures, friendships, identity, and school, it’s easy for them to feel unseen or misunderstood. The words we use matter. They become the bridge between what our kids feel and what they believe about themselves. These 10 phrases — drawn from the language and scripts I share in How to Talk to Kids About Anything — help you stay connected, even when conversations feel tricky. The goal isn’t to fix every feeling or have all the answers — it’s to remind your teen that you’re here, steady, and always willing to listen. 💛 #ParentingTeens #HowToTalkToKids #ParentingSupport #TeenParenting #PositiveParenting #ParentingWisdom #ConsciousParenting #DrRobynSilverman #ParentingJourney #ParentingTools #EmotionalIntelligence
