3️⃣ things you can do to help your kids manage big feelings: Distraction can be an effective strategy for helping children manage big emotions by providing a break from intense feelings, allowing them to reset and regain control. While processing big emotions is important, sometimes distraction can be a good stop pitstop first because it can: 1️⃣ Interrupts the Anxiety Spiral:  Distraction can prevent children from getting stuck in a loop of negative thoughts. Distractions can take your child away just long enough to provide some perspective and give the body a chance to reset and calm down. 2️⃣ Provides a Break:  Engaging in a different activity can help shift the focus from the source of stress to something more enjoyable or neutral, giving children time to decompress. 3️⃣ Promotes Emotional Regulation:  By teaching children to use distraction techniques, parents help them develop tools for self-regulation that can be used throughout their lives.
