Trying is winning!

Trying is winning. 🌟💪 When you ask your child, “What’s something you did that was hard, but you tried anyway?” you’re teaching them one of life’s most powerful lessons: effort matters more than the outcome. Kids often focus on whether they “succeeded” or “failed,” but this question gently shifts their attention to the bravery it takes to try—especially when something feels challenging, uncomfortable, or uncertain. It helps children recognize that showing up, practicing, and pushing through discomfort are victories in themselves. Over time, this builds grit, resilience, and confidence—the belief that “I can try hard things, even if I don’t get it right the first time.” 🌱 By celebrating effort, you’re also creating a safe space where mistakes are allowed, growth is expected, and perseverance is valued. And when kids feel seen for their effort, they’re more likely to keep trying—again and again. Ask this today. You might discover just how brave your child truly is. ✨ #Perseverance #GrowthMindset #RaisingResilientKids #PositiveParenting #EffortOverOutcome #ParentingWithPurpose #PowerfulParenting #DrRobyn

The world feels very heavy today. #shorts

The world feels very heavy today. 💔 When things feel overwhelming — in the news, in our communities, and in our hearts — it reminds us how deeply we need to take care of ourselves and one another. Especially our children, who feel far more than they can always explain. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer isn’t answers or fixes, but presence. A quiet moment. A warm cup of tea. Sitting close. Letting them know, I’m here. You’re not alone. On the second night of Hanukkah, we’re reminded that even a small light can push back a lot of darkness. May we choose to be that light for our children, for our neighbors, and for those who are hurting — through kindness, compassion, and mitzvahs, the good deeds that connect us to one another. Even with broken hearts, we can still lead with love. May the memories of all who were lost be a blessing to us all. 🕯️ #BeTheLight #Hanukkah #ParentingWithHeart #Mitzvahs #RaisingKindHumans #DrRobynSilverman #InTimesOfDarkness #ChooseConnection

How to Talk to Girls about Knowing, Standing Up for, and Taking Care of Themselves with Kate #shorts

What does it really mean to raise a strong girl? 💛 In this clip from my conversation with Kate Rope, we unpack the truth: Strength isn’t about pushing through alone, being loud, or fitting into someone else’s definition of “strong.” Real strength is knowing who you are. It’s having a sense of self, a network you can lean on, and the courage to ask for help when life feels big. Girls don’t need to do it all alone — and neither do we. 💛 Let’s raise girls who are rooted, supported, and well-resourced. 🎧 Catch the full episode on How to Talk to Kids About Anything Show Notes here:: https://drrobynsilverman.com/how-to-talk-to-girls-about-knowing-standing-up-for-and-taking-care-of-themselves-with-kate-rope/ #HowToTalkToKids #RaisingStrongGirls #KateRope #DrRobynSilverman #ParentingSupport #PositiveParenting #EmotionalStrength #StrongAsAGirl #ParentingPodcast

Does Your Child Struggle to Make Friends #shorts

Young children make friends easily. They can become friends with almost anyone they interact with. But as they grow older, this process becomes harder because they develop interests and playstyles and this makes friends or lack thereof apparent. This can make your child feel broken or it can make them feel like they don’t fit in. And that’s where friend zones come in. It’s all about expanding your child’s social circles. These are activities or places that offer a chance for your child to get to know new people and make new friends. Here are a few examples: 1. Non-competitive activity clubs: For example, it could be something like a chess class or an art class where they can talk while doing an activity 2. Individual sports that provide group opportunities: For example, it could be something like a judo class or track & field, where the events are mostly individual but training offers an opportunity to interact with other people 3. Book clubs based on mutual interests: A great example is if your child is interested in comics and manga, organizing a reading club where they can all relax and read manga would be a great idea If you want to learn more detailed approaches to talk to your child about friendship or relationships in general, check out my book “How to Talk to Kids About Anything!”

When you ask your child, Whats something that surprised you today? #shorts

Life is full of surprises! ✨ When you ask your child, “What’s something that surprised you today?” you invite them to slow down and notice the unexpected moments that shape their day—big or small. Surprises can bring joy, confusion, curiosity, or even frustration, and helping kids reflect on them builds emotional awareness and flexibility. This question gently teaches children that life won’t always unfold exactly as they imagine—and that’s okay. Reflecting on surprises helps them learn how to adapt, stay open, and navigate the twists and turns of daily life with confidence. 🌱 It also builds mindfulness by reminding children to pay attention to the details of their day—the interactions, discoveries, and moments they might otherwise overlook. And when you listen with curiosity, you strengthen your connection and help your child feel seen. Ask this tonight—you might be surprised by what they share. 😉 Hashtags: #CuriousKids #MindfulParenting #ParentingWithPurpose #RaisingResilientKids #PositiveParenting #ConnectionMatters #DrRobyn
