Put Down Your Phone and Give Full Attention: Distractions are everywhere, but when you’re engaged in a deep conversation with your child, nothing says “I care” like being fully present. Put your phone away, make eye contact, and give them your full attention. It shows them that their thoughts and feelings matter. 3. Move from Lecturer to Listener: We all want to teach our kids important life lessons, but sometimes the most valuable lesson we can give them is the space to talk.
