When kids talk about themselves, they’re building their identity in real-time. Are the words they’re using holding them back, or pushing them forward? “I’m awful at math.” “I’m stupid.” “I’m not good like you.” These words become beliefs. And beliefs shape choices, effort, and confidence. We can teach our kids to shift those limiting labels into growth-focused truths: ๐ “I’m someone who tries new things.” ๐ “I’m brave when it counts.” ๐ “I need some extra help in this class, and that’s okay.” One powerful conversation, one small reframe, can help a child see themselves in a whole new way. Let’s help our kids choose words that open doors, not close them. Save this as your reminder and share it with someone who’s raising resilient, confident kids. I talk more about how to help kids shape their inner voice in my book, How to Talk to Kids About Anything #DrRobynSilverman #HowToTalkToKids #ChildDevelopment #ParentingTips #GrowthMindset #PositiveParenting #RaisingResilientKids #KidsMentalHealth #IdentityBuilding #MindsetMatters #ParentingSupport
